This is the synopsis for the main task:

They talk about how they used to be best friends and Agent Q is angry and frustrated. Agent Q refuses everything and carries on to bring him to justice, after he betrayed MI6. The former spy runs away, turning the scene it into a chase scene. They arrive at the rooftop and have an intense fight, between two former best friends, which leads to the former agent falling off; and ending up dead. After feeling a sense of guilt over the guy who used to be his best friend, Agent Q shakes off the feeling and walks off, feeling proud of him self for completing his mission.

Main Task Planning - Target audience research

Target Audience.

When it comes to the target audience of thriller/spy films, the majority of people who watch these films are mainly males that are aged 15+ but many females watch Thriller/Spy Films also.

The reason for this range of age is that a lot of thrillers can contain sensitive material like strong violence and language as well as drug use, but also the main themes for these films can be to strong for a younger audience, such as war, and racism so could be inappropriate for a younger audience. But also for a spy film the plot can get complicated and might be hard for someone who is the age of 12 for example.

when it comes to gender our aim is for males because it is mostly males that enjoy watching violence.

Most 15+ Films contain
  • strong violence
  • frequent strong language
  • portrayals of sexual activity
  • strong verbal references to sex
  • sexual nudity
  • brief scenes of sexual violence or verbal references to sexual violence
  • discriminatory language or behaviour
  • drug taking

Main Task - Film Analysis 2

Main Task - Film Analysis 1

Frame 1
Mission Impossible is an adventure thriller with the main theme of spies. This particular screen shot represents the spy theme as the font 'IMPOSSIBLE' looks as if it is printed in ink.The background is black and sinister, whereas the font is pale and stands out.

Frame 2
The second screen shot has a black background which makes the film have a very serious aspect and we can determine the difference between a thriller film and say for example a cheerful comedy due to the dark colours. In the background there is also a small hint of light, which seems to be a strobe light of a torch. This makes the viewer curious of what could be lurking in the darkness of the shot.

Frame 3
This shows a close-up shot of a hand covered in blood, this annotates that there is a disaster within the film, and that someone is due to be wounded or perhaps killed or murdered. This would immediately give hints that the film is a thriller. Blood is related to injury and death, so one would suggest these things to appear in the following film.

Frame 4
Tom Cruise in this shot appears to be serious, due to the close-up of him frowning, which suggests confusion or curiosity upon him. He could be trying to work something out or understand something within the film, this also makes the film appear sinister and far from happy. Glasses make Tom Cruise appear intelligent and important.

Frame 5
The man in this shot has a shocking look on his face, this would lead the audience to be curious as to what he is shocked about. The lighting enables the shot to appear black and white, it also gives an illusion that the man is in a cold temperature environment. The glasses he is wearing could be annotated that the man is intelligent.

Frame 6
This is the second 'blood' shot used in the title sequence of Mission Impossible which gives the audience a strong idea that again, the film is a thriller and is a film that causes many characters to be wounded. There appears to be a weapon, yet the title sequence is so fast that the audience is left with unanswered questions, which entices the audience to the point they wish to continue watching the film.

Frame 7
Here we witness another shot of Tom Cruise, this time without glasses on, yet still appearing to be confused or concerned, meaning that the audience would understand that the film is sinister and that the characters within it are to be faced with problems throughout the film.

Frame 8
There are many shots like this within the title sequence of Mission Impossible, yet there is a focus on this particular character, Tom Cruise. The audience could assume that he is the main character within the story of Mission Impossible and that he is going to make frequent appearance during the film.

Frame 9
This is the shot that is similar to the one before, yet it seems more in-depth. This would suggest further that he is a main character within the film as the database is analyzing his personal information. Of which we can also read as a viewer, where we can discover background information about the character though not a lot is given away.
